Bedroom Rehab Corporation - (2013) Red Over Red

BRC is a 2 piece band hailing from New London, CT; (Adam Wujtewicz: bass, vocals; Meghan Killimade: drums), and are centered around hypnotic doom and gloom riffing and sludgy shoe-gaze soundscapes. Gathering influence from grunge, metal, stoner rock and blues, the band are writing songs that are more than just the sum of these influences.

This cool outfit hailing from New London in the US, containing only two members, delivers an armada of heavy distorted "rhythm and base" driven sludge/grunge/doom/stoner with some splendid vocals on top. In other words; there are only two instruments involved. But THIS particular bass playing successor appears to have more strings to his bow than usual and the ability  to make it sound as a guitar is also in the picture, which makes the whole sound anything but anemic!

Bedroom Rehab Corporation have put out two ep's in 2011 and 2012, and the debut album 'Red Over Red' is their third release in order, which contains 12 carefully selected nut crushers in almost 45 minutes. The rehab offers quite a bit on the album and can be described as a strutting formula of psychedelic sludge rock, doom, grunge and stoner. There are layers of heavy distorted and non-distorted bass riffs driven forward by a female drummer who knows how to handle both sticks and kegs in the right way.

The album is generally a nice creation but there are some tracks that rise above the others. For example the full-fledged Basilosaurus, Captain Damnit and Gone By The Boards which all together deserve a place on the podium. It's hard to put a label on Bedroom Rehab Corporation (if you have to), considering what they have managed to scrape together on 'Red Over Red' one thing is for sure; the music feels fresh and quite innovative given the fancy bass arrangements. This makes the songs feel very accomplished. If you're into fuzz driven heavy rock you should enjoy this disc. Red Over Red contains enough goodies for everyone!

Next stop rehab!!!
